Hello there!

Hey dudes,

Sorry I've been completely AWOL. I've been working. It will be easier for me to post when we're all back in school. I have got a course for the next few weeks but I will do my best to post. To keep you guys updated I have been reading:

Percy Jackson (#1 - #4) I will be getting 5 soon and I will review #1 here soon too. I LOVED IT.

I have Angelfall to read. The first few pages put me off a bit but I have been assured that it gets better.... I hope.

Also, there are lots of new books out that I will be wanting to read! I will have to wait a few though, my work was unpaid :(

I'm really excited for the new Lorien book though!!

It took me longer than i thought to finish the book (Gods having to deal with family, friends, boys, sport etc. is very hard) but I finally finished it! *yay for me* Anything that's like this is a 'could-be-maybe-I-don't-really-know-but-probably-is' spoiler. Also, where I talk about the characters will probably be spoiler-ish. You have been warned!

Celaena is the main character and, even if a bit of a bitch sometimes (which is expected{come on she was a slave and the back story! GAH!}), she's an amazing protagonist. She's stubborn and is a real person, with faults, confusing emotions and one hell of a back story. Everything that happened to her in her past, that happened during the book, you can feel yourself wishing to take all of it away, even when you want to punch her for being an idiot. Dorian and Chaol are the next main characters, and wow. Both have faults, bad(stupid) ideas and sometimes talk crap. But they're awesome.

The plot to the story draws you in, and you can't help but stay up 'til 4 am reading it just to see what happens. Well, that happen to me anyway. I couldn't help but fall in love with the way the story was/is told. Everything just worked well.

The story is told in third-person narration, sticking to Celaena for the majority of the story, but we get glimpses of Chaol, Dorian and even Kaltain. I can't remember if anyone else is used but they're the main characters,  so it doesn't really matter anyway. 

Kaltain is one of those 'Ladies' or something and she gets on my nerves. She just can't leave happy people alone! Gah I can't stand her. She's such an annoying, deceitful, manipulative person who thinks too highly of herself. These aren't really spoilers, it's my opinion from my first encounter with her that just escalated throughout the novel, but if you think them as spoilers, sorry didn't mean to do that! 

Duke Perrington and Cain are being put in the same category. Evil, horrible and just plain icky. Yes all that was needed. I never liked them, and you won't too (I think anyway. Unless you like that type of people..?) Though are different yet the same, I couldn't help but have conflicted ideas about them. Perrington is horrible, but it's not all his fault. He is trying to forward himself in more ways than one. Cain grew up being from the place I can't name so he's gonna be evil. 

Chaol is... Chaol. He's perfect. He's arrogant(in a way) and so nice at the same time. You can tell when he cares about something and he's protective and funny. I don't even know how to talk about him without my heart breaking because of feels.  He's brave and willing to do things even if he shouldn't. He can take Celaena, Dorian and anyone. Basically, I love him. And I hope he gets with Celaena.

Dorian. I actually don't know how to describe him. I can't decide if I like him or not. He's sweet but cold, and he kinda annoys me. Like yeah, woo he's a prince, and blah, but there's just something I can't actually like about him. But I like when he's happy and don't want him to be hurting at the same time. I know, I make little sense.  But I think there's something bubbling in there.. Maybe some tragic event, or great show of bravery? I hope so.

Finally, Celaena is one amazing badass. No other words for her. She's brave, tough and can see the bigger picture when making horrible decisions. I love her, and the fact she's blonde. Yes, a badass assassin is a girl with long blonde hair, who is pretty and wears dresses. SUCK IT. I think that's another reason why I love this book so much; the main character is a woman who usually would be expected to be a 'lady' and act all shy, flirty, and get a husband and listen to men but she's like 'shut up you're an idiot. Leave this to me, you couldn't do shit.' and I love her for it! Like, she shows her emotions, tries to overcome them and grows so much. Basically, Celaena is the best protagonist I've read in a while.

The next book is called Crown of Midnight and that's the Goodreads page for it. I can't wait for it because there's something brewing and it'll be the best thing to happen because it'll be filled with excitement and ahhh.

I also hope the other two don't kill me for writing this because we fought about who could it for ages, they may end up posting a review too! Look forward to it!!

Deity left me with no words. Literally. The beginning I was just thinking "Tell me what happened after the end of Pure (Book 2)!!" And it did. But it was barely a ninth or less into the book then. 
*****WARNING! I tried very hard not to make this at all spoilery but if you read it too closely then it will be spoilery so proceed with caution!!*********

I was pleasantly surprised (and not so pleasantly surprised at some developments...). That Jennifer somehow managed to make this book even better than the second and, shockingly, even better than the first! I squealed several several times as the plot line unfolded and that is quite an accomplishment. This book just kept on coming with more and more coming at you so fast you couldn't recover from the previous blow!

Alex was very much herself in this book. She was the same as usual but then after I finished the book I thought, "Hang on a sec! Alex wouldn't have done that!!" Jennifer managed to develop Alex as a character as she matured but still Alex seemed like Alex, so much so that I barely noticed (but in a good way!). 

Aiden, for me, in this book was amazing. I loved him so much and felt that he was a required character, that without him everything would feel a little bit too simple. Considering how complicated the book got, Jennifer simply couldn't have a simple book :) I'm not complaining though!!

I want to talk about Seth but I have no idea what to think about him anymore. He's still the exact same as he was at the end of Pure but it's like Jennifer has taken a fine tooth comb to him in this book and gone "Look! See this little thing here?" I see. I haven't quite comprehended how long that little thing was there..... I can't believe I never noticed these little things and I can't believe how well Jennifer hid them from us and then how well she was able to make me feel like an idiot.

 One thing's for sure, Jennifer L. Armentrout is a genius and you have to read the entire Covenant series and anything else she has written!! Can't wait to download Elixir and I can't wait for Apollyon!! I recommend it to all!

Wow. Just wow. This is really a brilliant book. The author really planned out the history of Daemon and Dees' race. She explained the fact that they were aliens very well and put her own twist on alien myth, no more giant, man-eating insects from outer space any more!! This definitely earned a place on my favourites shelf. 

I really liked Katy. She was unlike most heroines I know. She probably couldn't throw a successful punch but, damn, did she have a mouth on her. She could easily respond to anyone taunt, jibe, remark or any thing said to her in a matter of seconds. Daemon being an ass (as he tends to be)? Sends him an insult right back and makes sure it stings but, unfortunately for her, it never really seems to bother him all that much, at least from what we see. 

Jennifer also really succeeding in letting all of us bookish, nerdy girls relate to her. Katy has a book blog and does all of the regular blog things like "Waiting on Wednesday" and "In My Mailbox". I will be the tiniest bit spoilery here (but not all that much it's just a quick thing and not really important).

 ******* I think it's really cute when Daemon sees one of Katy's "In My Mailbox" videos!!************ 


Anyway I found Katy to be a brilliant heroine who relates really well to anyone who actually reads. Katy is in awe of authors and says that she remembers asking for an interview with an author who she would give her firstborn to them just to have lunch with them. 

What I really loved was the banter between Daemon and Dee and the especially the banter between Katy and Daemon. I also think that daemon now tops the list of my "Oh why aren't you real so I could go out with you instead of what's-her-face from the book???" Not that I don't love Katy but I just love Daemon. Did you see the cover?? That's him!!!! Isn't he gorgeous??? 

Jennifer's writing was enticing. It pulled right into the book and whenever I needed to get out to, well, eat or shower she would pull me back in with the mysterious writing like it was saying "This next bit is important, you can't leave now, don't you want to know what happens next??" Yeah I read it every spare moment I had and loved it to pieces. You know when you see the hero's name on the page of a book when he's first come into the scene? Like with Jace in TMI or just the guy you want the heroine to end up with? You giggle and smile and get asked by anyone around you "Good book?" or "What are you laughing at?" and to the first question you reply "OF COURSE" and to the second you quickly say "Nothing!". Yeah that. 


Buy this book. Get from a library. Whatever, just read it!! 5/5 Brilliant book Jennifer! Or Ms. or Mrs. Armentrout, whatever you want to be called!

I quite liked this book. Probably a 3.5 or possibly a 4 star. It actually surprised me, which for many avid readers it is quite a feat to be achieved by a book, ever since I found this book I was thinking, it's vampires and it was and it wasn't. I'm not quite sure yet, it gives me incentive to read the next book. 

I liked Cassie enough but she seemed a bit too I'm-great-and-solve-this-all-on-my-own. I liked her more towards the end of the book. 

I really liked Isabella, she wasn't afraid of any of the Few or anyone else for that matter but still was fun and just there and like the little heiress I'd expected. 

The Few creeped me out for a while, especially Richard. Couldn't tell what the hell he was like. I overall enjoyed this book. 

I recommend it to Vampire Academy fans especially because it has the same feel as St. Vladimir's did but was still very different. Also to Half-Blood/Covenant-Series fans, ditto. I will definitely be reading Blood Ties.

Thoughts: This was a brilliant book. The plot was fantastic, it was gripping but slow. That was my one problem with this book. It was great but I couldn't get into it, it wasn't the type of book that had me by the throat and made me read it all in one night. It took me a long time to read it. It took a week.

The descriptions in this book were so vivid, I felt like I really was in Bellezza and I loved the way (MINI SPOILER ALERT) that the author twisted one bit of history and everything changed. No Church of England so no Anglicans and (SPOILER IS OVER)Venice was known as Bellezza and it was great. It was still in the same world in the sense that it wasn't supernatural creatures or it wasn't on another planet but it has a different feel to it. It makes you feel like you're in a completely different world. It makes you feel as though you are in Bellezza.

At first when this book came into my hands I thought, "What is wrong with the cover?! Oh, stupid UK version!" I set out to read it with a bad attitude towards it and it surprised me. The beginning of this book was very "Now, what's going on here?" This book was not good in the beginning, I didn't like it. Sophie was a pain in the neck and I could almost hear her snarky voice and it gave me a headache! Archer I liked at first because I was thinking "Finally! Someone who can probably shut her up!! He's gotta be the villain!" Then things got better, the history of the Prodigium was interesting enough and had me a bit interested. 

Then it got worse and it was named Elodie and Archer. Oh God, not another "less beautiful girl but who secretly might be the savior or have superpowers steals the hot boyfriend of bitchy beautiful girl!!" minus the savior/superpower part but seriously?!? My headache was back. I liked Jenna, a pink-loving vampire? Now that's original!! (Hint: There actually wasn't any sarcasm in that sentence!!) She was funny but wasn't Sophie's sidekick or anything either. It was different. She was the only vampire, thank God! Sorry but I'm a little sick of vampires at the moment! 

The last 'bout 70 pages were great though! Up until now it was 1.5 or 2 stars. Now it was 3 or possibly 3.5!! Since it is the ending of the novel I can't reveal much without spoiling the ending but just it went up a star and a half! That tells you how much better it gets!! Sophie is no longer quite so annoying and the other characters, weeelllllll let's just say there are some interesting developments.....

Dru, I liked her quite a bit. She read like one of those brooding yet sarcastic people who are all either brilliant or annoying or a bit of both. Dru was a bit of both. She was mostly brilliant thankfully. I liked all of her reference to guns and fighting. I enjoy learning new things from the books I read, especially things like fighting and whatnot which I wouldn't encounter in my everyday life (I'm an exercise challenged person.)

Graves or Goth Boy, I really loved Graves. I feel like Graves a lot of the time. Not grown into my own body yet, waiting for something supernatural to happen to me. Luckily Graves gets what he wants. Something supernatural does happen, Dru happens.

Christophe, oh Christophe. I feel he came into the book too late, the whole book seemed a little cut off, like too much beginning, alright middle and not enough end. Christophe came along and well... I can't say too much about him without spoiling some stuff...

The whole history of the supernatural stuff in the book was interesting and reminded me of the show "Supernatural". I really hate the phrase "things that go bump in the night" though! Dru's relationship with her dad was a good backbone for this book, I wished it was shown a little bit more. All in all, it's a good book. It's a good series, I've read all five books. In all honesty, it's not the best book, it won't change your life, but it's good. I recommend it.
